I never like the expression, “thinking outside the box”. But I do think sometimes a person from the outside can bring a perspective that no insider can have…case in point:

I attended a wonderul reception in Carbondale this week, the home of the Southern Illinois University. Their mascot is the Saluki (an Egyptian dog they tell me with a really small head). At dinner in an Asian restaurant one night, about 20 of us were making toasts. People were saying “Salut” (Toast). I said “Not Salut, but Saluki). They all loved it! Many had been saying Salut and Saluki for years but never out the two words together.

Guess I was thinking outside the box :-(
