When I fly, I usually do not talk to too many people. I read, do work, and listen to my ipod. But the flight back from BWI on Friday was different. I caught the earlier flight and I was able to get the last seat on the plane. I sat next to a women who had put her bag under the seat in front of me! This of course started a conversation since I had no place to put my bag (we figured it out). During the course of the conversation I learned that she led an amazing life. She was the UPS driver on Kodiak Island in Alaska, population 3500 plus alot of Grizzly Bears. Its very remote with only daily flight service when its not foggy (which happens often). Jules is also an Air Force Combat Camera Photographer who has seen her share of active duty over the past 20 years. Since I live in an urban city, I have tremendous amount of respect for people that choose to live in the remote parts of our country. I am glad this once I broke my silence and met Jules. At 50, she has lived an amazing life.
