I have just finished sorting through over 100 emails with Cyber Monday specials. A few good ones in there especially for travel.

Should a business participate in the Cyber Monday hysteria? Here are a few do’s and don’ts:

Don’t make an offer solely based on price. Selling on price is a poor man’s marketing strategy. It conditions customers to only buy when the price is lower. 20% off has become the new full price!

Don’t offer it for just one day. Give it a few days. Customers will be upset and you will end up giving them the offer days after Monday.

Do make an offer that adds value not just a price discount. To incent customers to buy now, offer something of added value. For example, an additional ebook  or some other extra gift the increases your usual product offering.

Do not make Cyber Monday the only time you communicate with customers during the year. Always be sending them something of value that isn’t always about your product!

Here are some other mistakes small businesses make during this time of year!

Are you making a Cyber Monday offer?
