surface 3I have traveled with an iPad for years. Even though it was hard to use to type long Word documents or use sophisticated Excel spreadsheets for business. Even though my Power Point presentations would never display correctly and I was unable to make last minute changes. I stuck with the iPad since it was light and played my favorite shows I could binge watch while on the road.

A few months back, I got Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3. I was reluctant to cheat on my iPad. So when no one was looking on a recent business trip, I turned this tablet on and fell in love.

It looked a lot like my desktop, but with a touch screen. The keyboard was incredibly comfortable to type on and lit up. The angle of the kickstand was perfect for the screen. I could use all the business files I had stored on my OneDrive and productively edit them while away from the office. It had a USB port for my plug ins! I use my docking station and larger keyboard at office as a desktop.  I now use all the business applications that work better natively on a windows machine rather than an iOS application.

Then there was the stylus pen. I had not used one since my Treo and an early tablet. It felt good in my hand as a mouse replacement. It was productive to draw and take notes on documents.

I finally downloaded iTunes, so I can binge watch while flying, but this time on a larger screen!

I loved the iPad, but I see my business future in the Surface Pro 3.
