I get frustrated when I don’t get a reply every time to an email. Sound familiar?

I don’t really expect a reply when I send emails to people I  have never done business with or talked by phone. But I do get disappointed when I don’t get email replies from people I have met or who are customers of mine. I suspect the “no replies” are because people don’t have an answer to the questions I ask or they don’t have time to answer. I have suggested other solutions before that have helped with getting an answer.

My friend, Pam Slim sent me a note for a project we are potentially working on together. It was clever and got me to respond right away. Here is what she wrote:

Title: Quick Favor: A, B, or C

I haven’t heard from you in awhile about the project and need a final decision- to make it easy, can you please respond with:
A: I’ve been busy, but I’ll get back to you ASAP.
B: Snags with the project, so hang on and I’ll get to you soon.
C: We are going in a different direction, thanks, but not now.

I thought this was brilliant, so I used these words on a client I had been trying to reach. He responded in an hour.

What techniques do you use to get replies to your emails?
