Airpods

I hated using earbuds since my cord was always getting tangled. I tried a Bluetooth headset for a while, but I wanted to use the same device to listen to music and make phone calls wirelessly. When Apple announced the AirPods last fall, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a pair.

The AirPods arrived finally last week and I excitedly opened the box like a kid on their birthday.

The AirPods were as easy to set up as any Bluetooth device. As I put them in my ears, they turned on. When I took them out of my ears, they turned off. (How does it know?). The sound was amazing for music. It was very clear for making calls since the microphone is in both the left and right ear device. Being wireless, I like no longer being tied to my phone in my office when I make calls or listen to music.

Contrary to popular belief, the AirPods don’t fall out of my ears even during a very windy day. I am convinced that this used to happen with earbuds because the tangled cord always pulled them out.

The AirPods are simple to use. Two taps on one of them controls music, hangs up a call, or summons Siri. I find that I am using this personal assistant alot more since I  am wearing the AirPods longer especially while traveling. When its cold,  I can just ask Siri to complete tasks without taking my hands and the phone out of my warm pockets. The only problem is that sometimes I get confused with which personal assistant I am talking to. I will ask Alexa on my phone for help instead of Siri (since I have the Amazon device too) and  Siri responds “Alexa hasn’t given me permission to do that”!

At $159, I do have the fear of losing them. I try to put them in the charging case when they are not in use. This is easy since they slide magnetically inside it.

If it is within your budget, I highly recommend this new technology. I think I am in love!
