“Thank you, Barry Moltz, for getting past the “you can turn it around” cheerleading and the “failure is your teacher” balms that are supposed to somehow ease our pain when we hit bottom in spite of our best efforts. Thank you for taking a hard, honest and often humorous look at failure for what it really is, and most of all for providing some real practical advice for getting through it.”
-Scott Allen, About.com, A New York Times Company – read full article
“The book was GREAT….. So much wasted energy is put into trying to hide failure that it is ridiculous.”
- Hap Klopp, Founder of North Face
“Entrepreneurship isn’t about success – it’s about the adventure of the journey. Sometimes you win, sometimes you don’t. Barry will make sure you know how to bounce on to the next adventure.”
- Andy Sernovitz, author of Word of Mouth Marketing
“Bounce” contains something many business books (and I’ve read hundreds) do not. Wisdom. As you read “Bounce”, you will realize the author has, indeed, been ‘in the trenches’, and has a great deal of wisdom to share with you. On more that one occasion, you will have the ‘ah-ha’ moment of recognition where this crazy world of entrepreneurship comes together. Don’t think for a moment, however, that this is a dry, B-school tome. The author is funny and charming and the examples he uses are both entertaining and interesting. He will motivate, inspire, help you develop a plan of action, and give you the confidence to move forward.
- M. Harleman
“Read this book–twice. Then give it away. Because you will forever know how to bounce with any challenge, crisis, or failure. In fact, this book really is about your next great success.”
- Michael Port, Author of Book Yourself Solid
“Can you Bounce? This is the book about the inevitable failures we all will experience and how we can best survive them. Moltz offers no false hope…just real tools for developing the resilience needed for sustained success.”
- Steven S. Little, Author of the best-seller “The 7 Irrefutable Rules of Small Business Growth”
“Afraid of failure? Just Bounce!”
- Daniel H. Pink, author of A WHOLE NEW MIND
“My wife has placed your book in a critical location in my dinning room. She has a spot that has a copy of a National Geographic Magazine that has my son’s photo (rowing on a river in Pittsburgh); and a copy of a Princeton Magazine that has an article my daughter wrote; And now added to the Holy of Holies, your book opened to the page with my comments.”
- Hesh Renfield, professional business writer
Great book, and great confirmation that you only learn from failure and you emerge/bounce from it stronger, wiser, and more resilient. As a matter of fact as an educator, I do not wish my students success, but rather resilience so they can make their bounces easier and faster.
- M. Vozikis
Barry has written from experience and shared a great read about the reality of life and business. The real stories he has chosen, the lessons he has created, demonstrate that business is about action and process. Sometimes you win, sometimes you fail..just never stop developing the process. Understand his philosphy and you can develop your own system to achieve success. Thanks for sharing. A great follow up to “Crazy.”
- Mike Sewell
“Every business owner and sales professional should read ‘Bounce.’ In sales, failure can be a daily occurrence. Barry Moltz shows us that by defining our own success and failure we can bounce from whatever the business or sales world flings our way.”
- Wendy Weiss, The Queen of Cold Calling, Author of Cold Calling for Women
Barry Moltz hit the nail on the proverbial head just as Malcolm Gladwell did with The Tipping Point. Bounce! provides the key to success…failing quickly (and that failure is inevitable). Bouncing back is the key. Moltz provides you a methodology to diagnose what part of the failure was due to your actions and judgments versus the portion that was caused by bad timing or events outside of your control…like new government regulations or a natural disaster or if the competition just beat you. This knowledge give you a powerful Bounce!
- D. House
Another great book from Barry Moltz. Barry would seem to have a knack for talking to folks and using his own experiences to discuss the issues that matter vis-a-vis starting and operating a business. My students are currently reflecting on “You Need to Be A Little Crazy: The Truth About Starting and Growing Your Own Business”. Next semester I can’t wait to see what they make of and gain from reading this gem. Lets hope Barry’s approach to authorship inspires others to reconsider how to communicate the challenges, pitfalls, and opportunities of entrepreneurship.
- C. Jones
“I’m really enjoying your book. The chapter about different countries’ perceptions of failure and bankruptcy laws was fascinating. (I was always blown away by how lenient our laws are.) And the humility/ego chapter is priceless. So TRUE!”
- Susan Landa, Fossil Cartel
The perspective that Mr. Moltz presents is one that most Type “A”s can’t comprehend; coping with failure. This book was an exceptional read for me since I am currently going through a career transition. While changing careers is not as frightening as starting a business, there are numerous parallels; from determining what success means to you to knowing if it is time to accept that your current career is not right. I would recommend this book to anyone that has ever heard “It is alright to make mistakes as long as you learn from them” and have not believed a word. Mistakes happen and learning to bounce back from them is the real challenge.
- T. O’Brien
“How amazed I was by your book. It is so different and refreshing. I think the message is right on target! And it’s so cool how the message is so applicable to life as well. Bravo!”
- Kris
