Mark Jepsen

As a video editor, Mark’s office is a regular carnival with sights and sounds assaulting your senses.

Mark started his professional career 15 years ago when he left Columbia College a semester early to take his first editing job. His first assignment was a television commercial for a local celebrity-owned restaurant. When he saw that spot on the air, he was hooked. Since then, he’s cut just about anything imaginable, from sales and training videos to sports shows and promos, but his first love and passion has always been cutting TV spots.

In 1997 he was editing for a regional sports network and had just won an Emmy for that work, when a friend who was also a creative director at FCB Chicago convinced him that his reel was so good that it could get him work at a commercial post production house. With that vote of confidence, he set out to Michigan Avenue, reel in hand. He landed at Swell in 1998, where he built a reputation as an editor with timing, style, and an ability to find the true humor in a comedy spot. He caught the eye of Luiz Landgraf at Machete. Mark could tell there was something special about what Luiz and his partners are building at Machete, and he now offers his creative talents as part of that dynamic team.
