No One to IM? How ’bout a Robot?

Tuesday, October 25th, 2005

AOL’s instant messanging has just solved your problem. None of your friends online so you can talk to them? Why not IM AOL’s computer robot? Ugh. Remember when IM served a purpose?

Like Talking to A Friend

Monday, October 24th, 2005

David Lorenzo, a consultant and strategist in NYC posed a review of my book on his blog:

"Would it be valuable if you could sit down with a friend and listen to him as he described being an entrepreneur in great detail?  What if he introduced you to other people who had been through similar experiences?  How about if he described the emotional rollercoaster of starting, nurturing and then selling your business?  Would this be important information?"

Finally a rainy day in Chicago..my son and I decided we would learn about podcasting. Ever since I got an iPod, I have wanted to learn how to do this. It could not have been easier.

Tag- You’re It!

Friday, July 22nd, 2005

I have never heard of tagging. But I learned now tagging is assigning your own keywords to things online like photos or blog entries so you can categorize them and locate them easily in the future.

For example, del.icio.us -

"…is a social bookmarks manager. It allows you to easily add web pages you like to your personal collection of links, to categorize those sites with keywords, and to share your collection not only among your own browsers and machines, but also with others."

I haven’t tried it yet but seems really useful!

Wantreprenuer!

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2004

I love the title of Darrin’s Blog: Wantrepreneur.

Darrin has been review the book on the web site, Big Adventure Marketing. Under the web site’s vision, it states:

If you own or are thinking of owning your own business, you’re participating in one of the greatest adventures one can undertake. It’s been said that entrepreneurs are the only people who go from sheer terror to sheer exhilaration and back every 24 hours.

Our mission is to help solo-entrepreneurs and home based business owners start a new business, expand an existing business and turn dreams into reality.

The Law of Failure

Monday, July 5th, 2004

Eric Sink is his blog last week wrote about the Law of Failure. I specially likes when he says:

When you realize you’ve made a mistake, cut your losses.

It’s just so hard to admit a mistake. Denial is a wonderful thing.

In his book, Barry Moltz busts the myth that persistence is the most important thing for an entrepreneur. Moltz claims that winners are people who know when to quit.

I completely agree. We need to give ourselves the freedom to take risks and try a lot of different things. But the obvious corollary here is that not all of those risks will work out. We need to learn to quickly recognize the ones that don’t and take the appropriate action.

Re:Invention

Friday, April 2nd, 2004

I finally met one of the entrepreneurial movers and shakers in Chicago, Kirsten Osolind. She is focused on marketing services for women entrepreneur led emerging businesses. I have been following her blog for awhile and her other activities. Her style like mine is freewheeling and honest! She is also on the cutting edge of blogging which has become a real interest of mine.

I was most impressed with her passion and energy for women entrepreneurs (Although I wish she would take on some clients who are men like me!)

The Sales Process Diva

Monday, February 23rd, 2004

Lori Richardson of Power Marketing International describes herself as “One woman making a living assisting high-powered sales teams to success”. In her blog she reviews the book from a sales persons perspective. In her blog, she says “It is an excellent read and I couldn’t put it down. Great for anyone considering starting a business or who is building one as I am. Reading it was enjoyable… For another reason, it is easy to read with lots of nuggets of wisdom, written in an interesting style”.
