Bury Boingo!

January 5, 2009 Customer Service No Comments

I believe Boingo is running some kind of underhanded business. Boingo of course is a wireless internet service you can sign up for when you are traveling at hotels and airports. They have wireless networks in alot of these places and for $7.95 an hour or more for a day, I have on occasion used it. However, then I started seeing a handful of charges for $7.95 on my credit card statements when I knew I did not log onto their network. I called Boingo. Apparently, the wireless card automatically searches for Boingo on start up and if it finds the network it connects automatically and bills me even if I did not log on! (they can see if I logged on or not to use the network). This stinks. I bet that Boingo has made all sorts of extra money this way on people that do not carefully check your bill. When I loaded the small application on my computer I assumed I could use it to log in when I needed….I like things done for me but this is silly!
