“What else can I do to help you… I feel that what you say resonates so strongly … I gave it to people on my staff to read…it reduces the loneliness of the long time entrepreneur to know that he is not alone, that there other people going through the same thing”- (you can quote me on this) - Howard R. Moskowitz, Moskowitz Jacobs Inc.
“I read your book on a flight between NYC and Seattle last night. It kept me entertained for six hours. I enjoyed it very much. I think it is a good read for seasoned entrepreneurs, as much as it is for wannabes. The seasoned entrepreneur will smile knowingly and think, “Yup, that is sooooo true.” The wannabe will probably think, “Holy shit, nothing I have read or been told in seminars suggested these kinds of challenges!” I thought you did a particularly good job of weaving your personal experiences and anecdotes with those of other “real” entrepreneurs. The book goes beyond the mere clichés’ and platitudes of most books on the subject. You also dispel common myths. For example, people believe if they leave a big company to start or join a small company, everyone loves each other and works together to change the world. As you rightly point out, clicks and divisions occur in start-ups and the partners often work at cross purposes.”- Mike O’Donnell, www.Startupbiz.com

“Barry’s message to attendees at our Small Business Symposium was right on target. He exceeded our expectations for a keynote address to small business owners. He was a key factor in its success. He tells the truth about entrepreneurship in the most entertaining manner. Barry was an outstanding speaker - can’t wait to read the book! Our organization was looking for someone to deliver the keynote address at our September Small Business Symposium in Denver this year. We wanted someone who could deliver a message with passion but sprinkled with humor. We wanted someone who could be warm and gracious to our guests. We wanted someone who could be accommodating to the timelines of local media. We wanted someone who could relieve our fears about hosting an event to draw attention to our program. We wanted someone who made our organization look good. We found that person in Barry Moltz. From the moment he stepped off the plane until he departed Denver, CO, he accomplished all that we needed and wanted him to do. In fact, he exceeded it.” - Mary Russell, Tri-County Workforce Center Golden, CO

It was the craziest and most engaging lecture of the whole workshop. Few days before the workshop I was reading a book “The portable MBA in Entrepreneurship” by Andrew Zacharakis and many things you said about starting a business or other issues such as writing a business plan, financing etc were exactly as in that book, for the moment I thought that maybe you wrote those sections.” – Mike, Philadelphia

Anyways, I really enjoyed as much as I learned from your presentation, and thanks for sharing with us your insights to the art of entrepreneurship. My personal key take-away were twofold; a) it’s not about the ideas, it’s about execution, and b) business partnerships are like marriage without sex so you’d better have an exit strategy. Now that I’m working with a friend in making a business plan, those two things really registered in my mind. All the best to you, and let’s enjoy our respective adventures :-)”- Tak, Phoenix

Keep spreading the gospel and know that the message you share is very important for people to hear. I share your site with many people, I don’t tell them I’m in your book, I tell them “Start here if your serious, read the links, follow the stories, read as much of this site as you can, then take the baby steps, listen to people who can share valuable information and above all know what you want and what are you trying to achieve out of the risk your about to take. I’ll never forget the night you told me on the phone, “Sometimes Sean you have to know when to quit”. a swamp — keep your eye on the shore you’re swimming to, but you’re swimming in muck and God knows what’s underneath you and slithering
around. You really have to get your thrills by the journey and making progress, and not because you achieve some specific end result.”- Kara Trott, Ohio

“The reason for this note is that I wanted to pay you a complement - your presentation was great. I study this kind of stuff. The graphics were perfect - a picture does cover many words! The graphics enabled you to draw people into the presentation. Finally, your use of both humor and honesty were right on target. You really presented a picture of the life-cycle of a new business. Since my background is in new product development I can understand the life-cycle concept.” – Mark Reynolds, Ann Arbor, MI
“You are quite the funny guy; I hope your book is as funny to read, as you were to listen to. I’ve been thinking about the name though, and from experience I think the title should be, “You need to be completely crazy”……. That way you wont be so shocked, (like I was) when you start racking up all the therapy bills.” – Paula Thurman, Kansas City
“Anyways, thank for the entertaining evening. I didn’t know (of) you before, so it’s not yet clear to me whether I just had a chance meeting with a famous person, but I certainly feel as though I met a kindred soul.” – Rick Sheridan, Ann Arbor
“It’s great to hear someone discuss the reality behind entrepreneurship and not just the sugar-coated glamour.” -Shaun Farley, Ann Arbor
“Barry speaks directly to the issues of entrepreneurship. In his speaking, he engages his audience, and gives them the benefit of his first-hand experience. But he also is very open and personal. And shares the experience of others in his network as well.” - Dan Butler Vice Chairman, MIT Enterprise Forum of Chicago
‘Barry’s approach and ability to relate to our members experiences and situations made the presentation one of the more dynamic learning events of the year. Barry doesn’t hesitate to go against business hyperbole when taking on such subjects as measuring success and failure, real reasons for being an entrepreneur, and handling start-up funding.’- Jay Dever, Young Entrepreneurs Organization, Des Moines
“I just wanted to send you a short note and let you know that I thoroughly enjoyed your ‘book overview’ at our lunch meeting this past Thursday. I related to everything that you shared and look forward to reading your book from cover to cover.” - Richard Magid, Let’s Talk Business Network
“As the Chairman of the Charlottesville Venture Group’s Venture Forum Committee, it was extremely important that we find a dynamic, interesting, and entertaining speaker to kick off our annual venture forum event – our largest fund raiser of the year. We invited Barry Moltz to give the kickoff speech and were richly rewarded – Barry not only entertained the audience, he taught them a great deal by sharing his experiences, perspectives, and anecdotes about business. We received the highest rankings possible for his kickoff presentation! Barry has an amazing ability to connect with the audience. We hope to have Barry visit Charlottesville again soon!”- Dr. Deb McMahon
“The feedback I received from some of the guests was very positive and they felt their time (and money) was well spent. The presentation is witty, insightful, and offers a good balance of visuals, jokes, and convincing verbal pronunciations. I believe your audience also appreciates your amazing candor. Again, thank you for speaking to our business community. I know that those in attendance came away with a refreshing outlook on running their businesses”.- Jonathan Perman, Director of the Evanston Chamber of Commerce
“What a dynamic talk you gave! You covered so many important aspects of business ownership that usually aren’t discussed in texts or college classes, so you really helped the students better understand the reality shock that is entrepreneurship! The students really enjoyed it, and we continued the conversation after you left - they were really jazzed by your talk. I am very grateful for your willingness to give your time to DePaul students. You have made a strong impact on the “next generation” of DePaul entrepreneurs!”– Lisa Gundry- DePaul University
“The session was fantastic. Barry was funny, insightful and it was an extremely interactive and personal session with NYCofers sharing their thoughts and stories about being in business. You didn’t have to be a newbie to find it meaningful (I’ve had my biz for 15 years). You didn’t have to read the book because Barry made it relevant for everyone. But “You Need to be a Little Crazy, the Truth About Starting and Growing Your Business” should be on your reading list.”- Tracy Sheridan, Company of Friends New York
“Thank you for making last night such a fabulous event! Your spirit, energy, and passion about entrepreneurship is an inspiration to us all!”– Jill Kickul, Professor of Entrepreneurship at Simmons College
“We just want to report that, due to your outstanding contribution to the CEO Conference, we reached 1,200 participants — 400 more than ever before! You did an outstanding job as a speaker and we can’t thank you enough for your talent and time. You truly made a difference!”- Joanna Wolek, Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization
“Barry was my favorite speaker. He had a lot of great ideas and was really fun. I think he inspired a lot of us there that he spoke to and in front of. I really respect him and would love to have his self confidence.” - Christine Sanchez, Lead America
“I really enjoyed your talk last week while you were in KC. I have just started the book and am anxious to get into it. Thank you for the inspiration and great fun”- Sherri A. Becker, The Marketing Department
“ I have been reading the book and it is resonating on several levels. I’m trying to get my wife to read it so she’ll understand more about me.”- Jeff, Kansas City
“Just wanted to thank you again for a superb evening. I think everyone really enjoyed it. And they all asked for more” – Robin Richman, Steppin Out
“Your talk at the luncheon was informative and entertaining, and oh, so true.” – Karen Hirsch
“ Just a short note to say how enjoyable it was to hear you speak yesterday. If the book’s sales slow down you can always fall back on stand-up.” - Bill Lear
“ You truly were inspiring. Everyone was glued to what you were saying and most of all, they had fun listening to you.”- Nicole Heinrich
“Barry’s teleconference with our group was more of a conversation than a presentation. I’ve sat through a number of dry, follow-along-with-the-slides type of presentations. This was so much better! Barry drew everyone in by sharing his personal experiences and relating them to what all of us are actually facing with our own businesses. Very worthwhile- not your run-of-the-mill business presentation.”- Dave Orsborn, Company of Friends
“I really enjoyed meeting you yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed your presentation! My prediction is that your speaking career is going to take you far beyond just the “I’m-interested-in-starting-a-business” type events.”- Lauren Hollis, University of Illinois
“Thank you for a fantastic presentation. The students genuinely enjoyed your words of wisdom.”- Becky Gann, Belmont University
“Barry’s talk was informational and motivational- he is a most engaging, authentic speaker and businessman. If you own your own business or are considering starting one, you would be crazy NOT to listen to this man!”- Jody Lentz, Company of Friends, Nashville
“On behalf of the Brandeis University’s Entrepreneurs network I would like to thank you again for participating and sharing your experiences with our group. I am still reading your book and so far I find it guiding and inspirational. I greatly appreciate your advise on the topics revolving around networking, building a business and managing all aspects at once. Many of your teachings is similar to our goals with our network.”- Izzet Bensusan
“Great talk, I related to it in many ways; I ran a graphic production business for nine years. We sweat payroll, invested in new technology and it started paying off until my business partner’s 2nd business went up in smoke. Saving his and mine became a financial nightmare and ultimately took us out. At 57 he lost EVERYTHING; 5 years later, I am still dealing with the aftermath. You are right: it is toughest on wives.”- L. M. from Illinois
“I enjoyed your talk today and was quite overcome with this book …Many thanks again for your inspiration.“- Edna Warren
“Thanks for speaking tonight. I always like to here the stories of people who have been there and done that. It certainly gives me inspiration to enter the world of starting a business. The book looks great and I look forward to reading it. I briefly glanced at the first few pages and thought the dedication was very sweet. It is great to remember your family. I don’t think many people realize how important they are to one’s success. Your analogy of the entrepreneur driving the car on a curvy road with the family in the back seat blindfolded was classic.”- Robert Hann
“Thanks for the great presentation … I thought the book was really good; gave me tons of different insights into what to expect when you’re taking on a startup venture. Besides being a bit anxious, I’m on the edge and about ready to jump and go for it. I’m sure we’ll be in touch down the road.”- Jack R from Illinois
“ Thank you for giving our IDEA MONDAY Forums a great kick-off. The presentation by you, the discussion, and networking were exceptional. You should feel very good about your contribution.”- Tom McIntyre, Rockford Entrepreneurship Center
“We all need our personal batteries recharged and you have helped there. You also reminded me of the need to be a matchmaker (”love cat”) and be generous with time and insight among those who are earlier in the cycle than ourselves. I enjoyed doing those things already with several of the contacts I made at the conference.” – Don Jarrell
“I am not completely finished with the book yet, but I am really enjoying it. The one aspect of your presentation I really identified with was the ups and downs, highs and lows of being an entrepreneur.”- Daniel Levy
“ I also had to mention to you that your talk at Darden was so impressive that just this past Thursday at a COF event the speaker referenced (quoted to be exact) your comments about failure and success factors of entrepreneurs.”- Siddiq Bello, Virginia
“Two points from your talk really hit home. First, knowing when to quit point is important. My mother taught me from the very beginning (as I tried to quit piano lessons 900 times), that “our family doesn’t quit things.” In our last venture, I refused to quit until I was left with absolutely no money and no alternatives. Second, I agree that it’s important to have experience in working through the hard times. Necessity and distress certainly breed creativity and a lot of other positive attributes– I learned to ask for a lot more from lenders than I ever thought they’d do. I learned from my suppliers and creditors how one gets paid (because I was having to pick and choose which suppliers and creditors got paid to the detriment of others). I learned to operate on shoe-string budget and got my employees buy into the program. I also now know what happens when you fail so in my future ventures I won’t have that dark cloud of unknown out there to worry about.”- Liz A., Virginia
” I just wanted you both to know, as members of Charlottesville CoF, that even though I was running late because a job interview I had on Tues. morning ran over in time (but I think I got the job, so was worth it!), that I was there in time for the whole presentation and thought it was great—insightful, useful, and most importantly, very refreshingly honest. Thank you so much for having it and inviting me, it was the best CoF event I have attended to date, and such an important one as well. It really validated a lot of my own decisions and feelings I have towards the (gritty, grand and sometimes ugly) business of being a serial entrepreneur! It meant a lot to me!”-
“Although you have a vast amount of experience, you also possess great oratory skills - so not only was the information you delivered very helpful to me, but it was packaged in quite an entertaining manner!” -Gretchen Reachmark
“Loved the CoF today! He was a good speaker. He is dead on about several things, including knowing at what level your skills break down. I learned that lesson this past year!” - Anonymous
“ Enjoyed your talk and your common sense approach was refreshing. I am buying two books to hand out as gifts.”- G. Dempsey
“A note of thanks for addressing the BNC on Monday night and especially for the signed copy of your book. I know I’ll find it valuable and I’ll look forward to repaying you! I’ve already told a couple of my “crazy” friends (running their own companies) about it. You are generous with your time, humor, and acquired wisdom and it is much appreciated.”- Veronica Robie
“Thanks for your time, energy and wisdom.”- Eric Bienstock, 3 Minute Thinker
‘Barry made a connection with the audience through his personal stories of challenge and later triumph. He’s been through the ups and downs of entrepreneurship, and the lessons he learned informed the attendees in a very positive way. He was a great contributor to the success of our conference.’ - Brendan McGinty, LeoMedia
“I appreciated your message and many things resonated with me during your session. In particular, I was able to remove the equations of salary from my idea and focus on my idea. Secondly, you said at a certain point, you simply have to take the leap. I’ve known that to be true, but it helped to hear it from someone else. I also agree with your assertion that it’s better sometimes not to have all the money you need backing you because it’s then you become resourceful. It has certainly been true in my case.”- John Myer
“Your analogy of careening down a mountain road crashing into the safety barriers while your spouse was in the passenger seat was a very good one. I discussed with my wife yesterday, and that is precisely how she feels about me and my on-again off-again venture. And thanks for the advice about being a shameless promoter…Your advice about having even less control while working running my own business was a needed dose of reality.” – Tom J.
“The pleasure was all mine. You are an engaging and entertaining speaker. It is so very refreshing to speak with (and listen to) someone who is smart, strategic and humble at the same time - qualities not so easily found in people today. Thank you for sharing your stories and reaching out.”- Andrea Leiter
“I thought your talk was excellent and I identified with a lot of what you said. Business is truly a rollercoaster and I think a lot of writers neglect to cover the human aspect of running a business in their books. I just wanted to let you know that I found the talk dynamic, interesting and completely relevant.” - Adam Menzel, New York
“We need someone who is willing to be a public spokesperson, someone who is willing to champion in public forums the needs of entrepreneurs and investors, a kind of magnet that draws entrepreneurs in.” - Bob, Chicago
“I enjoyed it and feel inspired to really look within to see if I am interested in taking a new path.” - Alan Cohen, New York
“I’ve just started to read, but have sung the praises of your presentation and the book’s contents to many of my friends.”- E. Piper, Schaumburg, IL
“Good comments, good presentation. You are also not afraid to bring the experience very close to home and share your ups and downs. It will touch people along the way, not each day, but unexpectedly and in ways you can’t imagine or may never know. “- E. McKenna, Chicago
“I enjoyed your talk quite a bit. It’s nice to have validation on some of the basic issues we face every day.” - Gina Huck, Chicago
“Thank you for sharing your expertise and knowledge with us last night at Brandeis House. Your words were entertaining, educational and reassuring. So, thank you.” - Jaimie Camrillo
“I enjoyed your presentation & the perspective you brought to entrepreneurship in general. It was refreshing to hear someone say that it’s not for everyone & you shouldn’t feel bad if you decide it’s not for you. I would also like to offer some small thanks for your effective use of slides in your presentation. Thank you for resisting the urge to fill all available space with text, which you would then read to me! How nice to see someone use slides to SUPPORT his speaking, rather than replicate it!”- J. Seigert. Milwaukee
“I enjoyed your presentation and am about half way through the book. The message came along at time when I really needed it! Thanks for the bit of inspiration. “- K.H., Stamford
“I want to take a moment to thank you fo ryour words of encouragement and experience. We spoke briefly in front of the sausages and cheese, and since I was starving, our conversation was rather short. The key word that I walked away with last night was ‘execution.’ I believe I have the emotional dexterity to deliver. My original plan was to read your book, a little bit each night while sippingon a nice cabernet. Instead, I just rented a camper and I am going on a personal retreat for 5 days, where I will read your book and a couple of others, then begin writing my business plan. Thanks again for the words of wisdom, it really meant a lot to me.” - Brian Gottlieb
“You absolutely were a wonderful contribution! You are so entertaining and are getting rave reviews! I had one gal email me to thank us for the invite and she said, ‘I really enjoyed the keynote speaker. I was due for some motivation and he worked!’ You do such a great job! I’m so glad to have had the opportunity to hear you…and meet you!” - Jody Kerbyson, Thumbworks Michigan

“On behalf of Incubators New Zealand, I would like to thank you for your involvement in our recent Summit at The Bio Commerce Centre, in Palmerston North. Your entertaining presentation was enjoyed by us all and provoked much discussion.” - Melanie Farrant, Incubators New Zealand
“Barry’s entertaining yet realistic views of entrepreneurs and the challenges they face were a breath of fresh air! Unfortunately, there are so many speakers and authors in the business arena that gloss over content and don’t connect with their audiences - Barry isn’t one of them. In fact, he engages the audience and gets them to think about the realities of being an entrepreneur, without being discouraging - that’s a difficult line to walk!” - Tracy Buzzell - NEW END Steering Committee
“ It was good to meet you too. I was very happy with the seminar and the breakfast. I took your advice and tried to talk to my wife about her fears when I got home after the seminar. Unfortunately, I forgot the unwritten rule about talking about my crazy ideas after 10PM. Needless to say, it didn’t go too well. The next few days, however, were very productive and I feel I have moved a few steps closer to “Getting Crazy!”- Scott , Wisconsin
“ Hi Barry, it is “charge more” here. I have charged a sitting fee 3 times now that I would’ve never had the guts to do til your little talk! I am really excited about being pumped up. I just started your book - I am excited to see what I learn. Take Care & thanks again for the kick in the pants I needed.
– Dawn, Wisconsin
“ I learned so much from you. More importantly, I gained validation of many things that I had believed privately. The power of focus on one thing at a time, downsizing your dreams, marketing as opposed to making sales–being there when that prospect has pain. In the middle of the whole event, I made a contact that ignited a buried dream of mine”- Jean-Marie Hinds
“ You know what? You gave us sort of luck with your speech last Friday. You gave me some confidence with your way to look at things in business”- Lydia , Boston

“Thanks again for taking time to share your experience with me and the rest of the class. Your honest approach to what it is really like to start your own company definitely sets your message and your book apart from the endless “Bootstrapper’s Bibles” and 10 step success stories that take up the majority of a bookstore’s entrepreneur shelves.”- Randall Cross, Northwestern University Student
“I had the privilege of attending Professor Merkin’s class last night and afterwards introduced myself to him. During class, entrepreneur and author, Barry Moltz, spoke about his new book and experiences as an entrepreneur over the past 12 years. He has a great sense of humor and bottom-line, he’s smart and has something to say.” - Adrian Miller, New York, author of The Blatant Truth: 50 Ways to Sales Success
“I already started it and look forward to delving deeper. I enjoyed your lunchtime talk – it was dynamic and although it didn’t address paying the bills while you’re failing, it did take a weight off. I’m always so hard on myself.” - Susan, New York
“There were a few notable sessions… Lunch was highlighted by a talk given by Barry Moltz of How Do You Bounce fame. Barry’s talk was certainly entertaining. I’m still not sure if I am supposed to be pumped up about setting my goals so low that I am sure to hit them, but I am sure there was a profound lesson to be learned in his talk somewhere, nonetheless. He did strike a chord when he talked about moving forward - whether you succeed or fail, you need to keep on keeping on…well done, Barry.” - Harry Brooks, Network Solutions
“Thank you so much for your inspiration.. I am feeling and acting alot differently since listening to you. I was blaming myself and not letting myself off the hook or forgiving myself.
