Business Insanity Radio: Meet The Founder of The North Face

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

I met Hap Klopp since we are both on the advisory board of Scottevest. Among his many exploits, Hap is the best known as the founder of The North Face, where he served as President and CEO for 20 years. During that time The North Face was honored with many awards for being the best managed company in the outdoor industry. Hap led The North Face to its position as the largest and most successful company in the business. After selling The North Face in 1990, Hap founded HK Consulting, a company focused on creative business strategy, marketing and promotion and has augmented this work with investing and speaking engagements. Listen to Hap talk about:

1. How success in business is a series of linked recoveries.

2. How you need to trust your instrinsic knowledge inside to make important decisions.

3. How he revitalizes companies using his “Turning Back the Arrow” strategy.

4. How to throw a helicopter off a mountain!

You can also get Hap’s book, The Adventure of Leadership to learn more which was co-authored by Brian Tracy.

My First Time

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

The first time doing anything is always hard. Things were no different with my first blog talk radio show with Scott Jordan, Founder and CEO of Scottevest. The web site to do the show is really amazing. You can have intro music for the show and listener call ins.

I chose Scott as the first since he is an innovative and brilliant entrepreneur. I first met Scott back in 2001 right after the big internet crash. His passion and innovation in business  impressed me. A recovering lawyer, he started his company, Scottevest to solve a problem- How do you carry your electronic devices and other items in a manner that allows you to use them. As a result, he created the Scottevest and the company which is the only one with a full range of clothing designed to accommodate electronic devices and wires. Listen here! Watch the interview here at the Scottevest blog.

Next week, my guest will be Nadja Pietka of Nadja Foods. She founded her company after her husband left her and she began baking in her kitchen. She has been on Oprah not once but twice
Tune in next week to get her insight.
