Scappy? The Perfect Adjective for the Great Recession

August 11, 2009 Things I don't Know Where to Put 1 Comment

I finally met up with Pam Slim, from Escape from Cubicle in Chicago a few weeks back. I had been corresponding with her for many years. Pam is a wonderful writer and speaker that helps people transition from the corporate world to an entrepreneurial one.

Pam asked me to do a short video for her in the lobby of the Embassy Suites about people feeling deflated from losing a job or experiencing a slowdown in business.

Pam talks about that the video isn’t of perfect quality- but perfectly scappy:

I define scrappy for this purpose as something done quickly and with few resources.  So it could be a quickly shot flip camera interview, a small recorded audio piece, or a short, informal blog post. To be “good scrappy,” it should be juicy information that takes an informal tone.”

We all need to be scappy in these tough times. Best of breed is out and good enough is in. We need to find ways and resources to get the job done…and many times without the perfection that we may want. In most cases, the customer is looking for it done quickly and at a competitive price.

Are you scappy?
