I have only known social media expert, Chris Brogan for a few years and really more in passing.  Liz Strauss introduced me to him when my second book came out and he graciously read and reviewed it in 2008.  At conferences where he would be speaking, I would say hello and have a brief conversation with him.  It bothers me when I see people writing that now that he is more well known and has had a lot of success in the social media space that somehow he has “jumped the shark” (did you know that phrase began on Happy Days when Fonzie literally “jumped the shark“?)  Chris is still as relevant to the business of social media and one of its most important voices because:

1.  Daily, his blog still produces interesting, relevant and actionable content.  I learn something every day from Chris.  He always breaks it down in simple terms so I can understand it.  For those of you that write a daily blog, you know how hard it is to do that effectively.

2.  Chris always emails me back and is always willing to help.  When you get thousands of requests a day, this takes discipline and a good system to make it a reality.

3.  Along with Brian Clark, Sonia Simone, Darren Rowse, he created Third Tribe which is an excellent source I use for online marketing.  The webinars and chat exchange is well worth the fee.

4.  Chris is humble even after all his success.  I feel he still appreciates all the support he receives and how important his “fans” are to his success.

5.  Chris makes the conversation not about him but makes connections for you. If you ever talk to him IRL and he is with other people, he will first introduce the other people to you before he talks with you!  Now that’s social media!

See for yourself.  Chris is also coming to Chicago on September 21 for a New Marketing Lab seminar’s New Marketing Experience.  You are not going to want to miss this.

Why does Chris matter to you?
