There is nothing more annoying to me than entering a retail store and seeing the only sales person in the store is on their smart phone. I feel that if I ask them a question, I am interrupting them. I wonder if the owner of the store saw them, what they would think. Clearly, the salesperson can’t be focusing on their job or trying to get the most sales for the business.
While this is particularly annoying, it is not isolated to sales people. I travel a lot and see so many people on their personal cell or smart phone while they should be working. I see:
- Hotel or High Rise Doorman
- Security Guards
- TSA Guards (while working)
- Cleaning Crews
- Taxi Drivers
- Flight Attendants (while passengers are boarding)
- Gate Agents (while passengers are boarding)
- ecetera…..
This isn’t good for an individual’s concentration and it is not good doing their best job. While there are so many advantages to having a smartphone, overall, doing the typical job better is just not one of them.
Smartphones need to be banned while on the job in so many places. If that happened, the quality of work and productivity of employees would skyrocket.
Ok, I feel better now. What do you think?
