Small business owners are always looking to save money. Here’s a simple way to do just that.
Check out the Goodshop app on the iTunes store.
This app has aggregated all of the best deals and coupons for thousands of stores, complete with ones that small businesses utilize often including OfficeMax, Amazon, Expedia, Vistaprint, Target, and more.
In addition to saving money on office supplies, airline tickets, and other normal purchases, the app allows users to donate an average of 3% of purchases to a cause of their choice at no extra cost.
When users sign up for Goodshop and click on the shop button or on a coupon/deal, their partner stores are notified of the referral. With each purchase, Goodshop is given a referral fee, which they split 50/50 with the cause the user has chosen.
To date, Goodshop has raised more than $11 million for causes ranging from the American Cancer Society to local dog shelters and schools.
Small businesses can save money while showing corporate social responsibility and donating to philanthropic interests of their choice. Online profiles allow users to easily track how much money they have donated to their cause, so businesses can proudly display it.
Based on an average rate of 3% donated, 100 people who purchase $500 per year will raise $1,500 for their cause. 1,000 people purchasing the same amount will raise $15,000.
Goodshop is part of the larger entity Goodsearch, which operates on a similar principle. Users raise money for a cause of their choice by searching the internet via Goodsearch’s Yahoo!-powered search engine. A portion of advertiser dollars earned as a result of the search is what gets passed along to the user’s cause, which equates to about a penny per search.
Unfortunately, Google and Bing searches are not supported by this model, so that’s one thing the user will have to forgo to maximize donations, but it’s for a good cause.
100 people searching an average of 2 times per day can raise $730 per year. 1,000 people searching the same amount can raise $7,300.
Additional goodies that offer more ways to raise money for charitable causes include Gooddining, Goodsurveys, and Goodgames.
Do good for your business and the causes you care about. That’s what we call a win-win.
