Uncle. I give up. Until today, I was probably the last person on the planet not using Spam filtering software. I had a thing against using it since I wanted to make it easy for anyone to email me or find me if they wanted to..guess I am too easy. I also think it is everyone’s right to try to sell me stuff. I kind of enjoy their creativity, but today was the last straw .
I now calculate that I get a piece of spam every 2 minutes. I came back from a weeks vacation this past week and found 5,000 emails in my Inbox. I spent hours going through them today only to realize that 95% of them were SPAM…and multiple copies of the same SPAM. So much for the new federal law January 1, 2004. I read that 50% of all email is now SPAM and it costs businesses billions every year in lost productivity and bandwidth.
So now I am among the converted. BTW- I love the names of the products that filter SPAM…Names like The SPAM Assassin, and I Hate Spam are exactly how I feel now. I downloaded “I Hate Spam” from Sunbelt Software. It seems to be working well.
