This is the time during the year that my family and I celebrate the Jewish New Year. It is also the time when we ask people for forgiveness that we have wronged knowingly and unknowingly.
So I ask all of you, if I have wronged you knowingly, then I hope I have apologized by now to you.
If I have wronged you unknowingly, then please forgive my oversight for harming you without knowing it.
I’m curious, do you actually ask people face-to-face (or on the phone) who are outside of your immediate family for forgiveness. If the Jewish High Holidays were actually used as a time to work out personal relationship problems it would be a very interesting time of year. I know of no one who does so.
In fact, if you actually called someone to clear up nagging problems, especially small ones, he might consider you odd.
You are suppose to tell people face to face, or letter or I guess these days email!
Bob, my point was about the method by which one contacts the person. I wanted to know how seriously you undertook this practice. Is it just with your immediate family or do you call your close friends and relatives as well? I know about it in theory and find it very interesting but as I said, I’ve never known anyone who practiced it.
I did it several times this week myself!
