I went to an interesting seminar last Friday where the speaker said there are 132,000 new books published every year and only 5% ever make money. This is an outstounding statistic to me and makes the book industry a very difficult one. I feel very fortunate that my book is now in its third printing!

132,000 New Books!
Barry Moltz: “I went to an interesting seminar last Friday where the speaker said there are 132,000 new books published every year and only 5% ever make money.”…
If more people would just publish it themselves, thereby getting ALL the revenue per sale, we’d have a lot more profitable books. How? Because authors would have enough money per sale to rake back in to marketing where he/she thinks the book could be marketed. When you have a traditional publisher, there are too many levels involved who need to get paid leaving no money for marketing in most cases. Only those authors who have name recognition get marketed because it’s cheaper to market someone like that.
With the internet and the ability to reach your audience directly and the ability to put your book online with all the large booksellers yourself, there’s just no reason for a publisher for the no-name book author.
I’ve sold over 10,000 copies of my book and over 50,000 copies of the electronic version of it. This would never had been accomplished had I been traditionally published.
Cheers!
