I saw some interesting statistics in Sarah Stambler’s E- Tactics Newsletter on click through trends. For those of you that have received my broadcast emails, you know that I am a big proponent of email marketing. I found this part of the report (from E-Sherpa) interesting on popular clickthrough rates (CTR):
- Newsletter articles sent to your own list – 6-10% CTR
- Free offers sent to your own list – 6-10% CTR
- Sales offers to your own list – 3-5% CTR
- Anything sent to rented lists – 0-2% CTR
The best part about email marketing is that you can tell within a few days how effective the campaign is and who clicks through. Based on this information, you can further define your effort. I recommend using a system like Blue Hornet or Exact Target although there are many others available.
