I attended Andy Sernovitz’s, Crash Course on Word of Mouth Marketing today at one of my favorite venue’s in Chicago, The Catalyst Ranch. I am typically not the kind of guy that likes to learn in a classroom of people, but the agenda was too good to pass up. This is such an important topic because traditional marketing and adverstising are really too expensive for the average small business. These are actionable things we can do to help our companies right now even in a recession.
Andy discussed the 5 Essentials of Word of Mouth: Finding the Talkers, The Topic, The Tools, Take Part and Tracking. When deciding what to talk about, he says we only need to ask one question: “Would anybody tell a friend?”
The best part is that Andy teaches you things that you can implement in your business tommorrow without a high cost. I highly recommend the class – the next one is January 21. Go to it!
Fantastic blog! Do you have any recommendations for aspiring
writers? I’m planning to start my own website soon but I’m a little lost on everything.
Would you advise starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option?
There are so many choices out there that I’m
totally confused .. Any ideas? Cheers!
