As I was writing the section in my new customer service book on creating a manifesto for your company, I kept on thinking about what is my manifesto for my own business. I have loved manifestos ever since The Cluetrain Manifesto came out in 1999. Here is mine:
1. I will always bring my full resources for you and your company. When you have me, you have my network.
2. Every call or email you send will be answered in a matter of minutes or hours. When you don’t sleep, neither do I.
3. I will be honest with you about what I think and what needs to be done even when it will hurt our short term relationship.
4. I will tell what I think is possible and what is not probable. I will never tell you what to do, so please don’t ask.
5. I will ensure you know exactly what you are buying and the results you can expect from me. You need to evaluate the ROI.
6. While I will not lead you out, I will always stand by your side so we can find a way through.
7. When you succeed, I will cheer you on.
8. When you fall, I will help pick you up.
9. Every promise I make, I intend to keep.
10. If I do my job right over time, I will work myself out of a job.
What is your personal manifesto?
These are excellent manifestos! Really good ones if I may add. My favorite is the sixth one. It’s all about working together to achieve something, it’s not about the one leading the other, it’s about teamwork and cooperation. Love it! Thanks! :)
Great lists of promises you are making your customers, BUT and even more importantly an articulation of expectations for yourself.
That is personal leadership my friend!
Keep up the good work!
