I have written about elevator pitches before. I love the concept of being able to summarize what your business does in a few short sentences that will inspire the investor to want to learn more.
Mike Brennan wrote me to show me Pitch Corner. Think YouTube meets the business plan competition. As the site says: “With one short video, you can present your idea to them and ask them to contact you. What could be simpler?” Their hope is that angels and venture capital types will come to the site to get introduced to entrepreneurs. Forget the intro email, make a video! Watch!
There is also a site just for women entrepreneurs to record their pitch. It’s not focused on getting attention from investors and the press, though that can certainly happen. At http://www.makemineamillion.org/elevator pitch, women can upload their 2-minute pitch and get feedback from an expert and other women on how to improve their pitch, where they should go for help with their challenges, and offers to make connections. There are a LOT more reasons to have an elevator pitch in addition to attracting investors!
Thanks Amy for the additional site mentioned! Yes, an elevator pitch gets you to tell what you do in a targeted and focused manner!
