Like all of us, I have been watching the devastation by Hurricane Katrina. During difficult times like this, I always put myself into the situation and ask, "what would I do if I was there?". These are hard questions to answer honestly since we all tend to think we would be more brave and courageous then we really are (or less brave than we really are….)
What I have learned is that you never know what you will do until you are in that situation. Therefore, don’t judge others for the decisions that they have made in that situation. It is apparent that we, as Americans are no different than other peoples around the world when put into harsh situations. We will act, for better or worse, "extreme" in difficult situation both good and bad.
Ask yourself, if you were hungry, thirsty or dying, would you steal to survive?
