After not being home most of the summer, I made my first trip to the dry cleaners late last week. The woman that runs "SUNNY CLEANERS" happily took my 43 shirts, pants and jackets for me. She looked happy ( Do they ring bells at dry cleaners when a big order comes in). I realized that I know nothing about the dry cleaning business. There seems to be a dry cleaner on every corner in Chicago. It seems that we won’t walk more than a few blocks to take our dry cleaning in. I assume that all of these are just storefronts (SUNNY has no plant on premises) and that most places go to a central dry cleaning plant everyday. This is interesting because unlike other businesses, there are no broad franchises or dry cleaners. Please add comments if you have been in this business!
