New York Times News article: “Facebook is a few steps away from getting a trademark on the word “face” with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, according to a document discovered by the technology blog TechCrunch…According to the document and filing, Facebook was informed …that it could move to the next phase of the trademark process.”
This will apply to “telecommunication services, namely, providing online chat rooms and electronic bulletin boards for transmission of messages among computer users.” Wow! That is pretty broad!
My first question is what will Apple do with “FaceTime” video chatting? Will I still be able to chat with someone and say “In Your Face!” without paying Facebook a licensing fee?
Apparently, Facebook is also trying to control the word “book” as well.
