Amazon is the company when it comes to selling anything on the Internet. More small business owners are now realizing they can easily sell their products to Amazon’s growing audience and attract a lot of new profitable customers.
Caron Proschan, the Founder and CEO of Simply Gum did just that. She launched her company in 2014 after realizing that most conventional gum contains plastic and is controlled by two companies in the marketplace: Mars and Mondelez. Caron believed that while consumer tastes have evolved to more organic and natural foods, the gum category had not changed much in a very long time.
Caron’s new product, an all-natural, non-GMO chewing gum, has redefined the category through its high-quality ingredients and innovative branding. Her first retail success was when she approached her local Whole Foods in New York and her product flew off the shelves. However, as the business grew, she wanted to expand nationally. Caron turned to Fulfillment by Amazon to accomplish this. Selling through Amazon gave her company national exposure and unmatched reach. In addition, customers can now make subscription purchases through Amazon which creates a monthly revenue stream for her business. Caron believes that this would be nearly impossible on her own. Simply Gum has also used Amazon’s advertising platform and she reports much higher conversion rates that other online search engine marketing used in the past.
Now that Simply Gum is booming, she also uses Fulfilment by Amazon to do the companies fulfillment for them to her customers. While Amazon focuses on the logistics and shipping of the product, Caron can look at new product strategies that she wants to bring to the market.
