One of the reasons that Prohibition ended 75 years ago this week was not because the government finally caved to the will of the people (or better put, their complaints). Prohibition ended simply over the need for increased tax dollars to end the depression.

Taking that lead, what vices could our current government tax in order to generate more tax dollars? Cigarettes and liquor are already heavily taxed but why not try:

Speeding: Let’s say you really wanted to drive fast, would you pay a premium for that?

Prostitution. It still exists in every state and generate hundreds of millions of dollars every year. Should we license the prostitutes and also tax the customers?

Drugs. Another huge business. Should we decriminalize marijuana and tax it like cigarettes?

What slightly serious recommendations do you have to get us out of this mess?
