The time between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day can be a difficult time. It seems that every customer is around but no one is interested in really doing any work in preparation for next year. The most common refrain is “Let’s talk in January”. This can be frustrating for many small business owners who want to be productive and plant seeds for the following year.
Instead of getting frustrated, here are some things that you can do while everyone else is on their December vacation.
1. Clean out your inbox
2. Update your website
3. Improve your skills
4. Review your business financial statements
5. Get involved in a social media conversation
6. Volunteer your time
Enjoy the holidays and let’s talk in January!
Call some customers. If they are on vacation, use the opportunity to leave them a nice “thanks for the business” type of message and how thrilled you are to be working with them and looking forward to working together in the new year. You could ask them for references or referrals as well.
