Drastic economic times call for us to reinvent ourselves. I received an email last week from Tim Rice  who owns WhiteStone Custom Homes. You know just from the name of his company that he must be having a tough year. Tim seems to be doing well. Here is how he is doing it:

“Re-invent ourselves. Hard charge brainstormed marketing. Giving away Custom Choppers with home to baby boomers. Big mark up to mark down or give a way’s to buyer and Realtor. Rolex, etc. I started the year almost knowing we would lose at least 500k. Somehow we turned that around and made good $. My problems were so big, I couldn’t even know where to start. So, we went to work. Plus, I moved from my nice office to a model home and cut my staff big time. I cut people I thought I had to have to operate at any level. Now, I am really close to the customer on the firing line. You can react much quicker when you talk directly to the customer. “

How have you reinvented yourself?
