I like to get a shoeshine when I travel. I think it is one of life’s luxuries that make traveling a bit more enjoyable. Most of the shoeshines I get are very average. There is not alot of care taken in doing them. It’s a volume game and I understand that. But this changed when I had a shoeshine in Louisville last week at Young’s Shoe Stand. Wow, Joe really knows how to shine shoes. I am not saying that he just good at it, he really cared about giving the best shoeshine he could. He polished, spit, repolished, cut threads, and dressed the shoes. I was there for over 20 minutes! My tip was as much as the shine. You bet I will tell everyone about this. I may even make a special trip to Louisville if the shoes get dull!
