I am crazy about flying although I board an airplane every week. I have been reading a good book called, Ask The Pilot, by Patrick Smith. It’s a question and answer format that makes it easy to read even if there is turbulence!
I especially agree with a few parts of the book where he says that what coach people really want are
“a halfway comfortable seat, something to do, and for the G-d’s sake an occasional bottle of water”.
He also has a humorous passage when he talks about airport codes (like ORD for O’Hare). He wonders what happens when you fly from Fukuoka, Japan (FUK) to Damascus, Syria (DAM) to Finland (HEL).
“Traveling FUK- DAM- HEL, try not to speak in acornyms when the agent asks where you are going”
I am not sure if this book made me less afraid to fly, but the point that he made was that things almost never never go wrong on airplanes and what incredible machines these really are.
I am off to Denver today for a board meeting for The Angel Capital Association.
Good laugh. I’ll link to it.
