It is 10 years ago this month that I contracted diabetes.
As my book discusses, it has not been all fun. I discovered a great web site, Diabetes Mine from Amy, a writer that was diagnosed a few years back and how she deals with diabetes. As her web site says:
"I think I can, I think I can… I know I can, I know I can… learn to count the carb content of everything that passes my lips; carry monitor, glucose tabs, insulin pen and needles at all times; learn to inject myself throughout the day; navigate the American healthcare system; and ward off the feeling that I’m somehow being punished. We all can. I’ve learned a ton since my diagnosis nearly 2 years ago. With diabetes, you really do learn something new every day. So I’m starting this blog as a place to sort out and share some “diabetes smarts” (pardon the pun) –– a gold mine of informational nuggets, if you will. Fellow Diabetics and those touched by the disease, please do comment and share what you’ve learned, too! "
Hi Barry,
Thanks for the mention!
As it happens, I was also recently featured in a Wall St Journal article on Patient Blogs. Wow!
The (very long) link to the article is:
