After speaking in Newark yesterday to a group of Non-Profits starting For Profit businesses, I flew home to Chicago to prepare for my Advanced Green Karate Belt promotion test. It had been two years since I last tested, having gone through a Karate commitment crisis, a surgery and a few back injuries. I was glad that last night I was in a position to test once again for my next belt promotion. The intense three hour promotion exam was everything it was suppose to be- mentally and phyiscally challenging bringing me to my limits. I sustain bruised ribs, a bleeding toe and a sprained finger during the evening. As our teacher, Jun Shihan Nancy said last night, test are not suppose to display your perfect form, but to stretch you in ways that you thought not possible without breaking…and that it did.
