I tested for my Green Belt at Thousand Waves (my Seido Karate School) tonight. This was a big goal for me since it signifies my progress into the senior ranks at my school. I had worked a year to get to tonight through alot of injuries. In preparing for any kind of test, you never know what part of the material will  trip you up. For me, tonight, in was the simply opening move of evey thing we do (called "yoi"). It is one of the first things we learn as a white belt and apparently I had been doing it wrong for almost 3 years! It was ironic, as it many times is in life, that the simply most basic thing becomes of biggest challenge. This is truly beginner’s mind: going back to the beginning.  I knew all the difficult material for the test, but the opening of each move: now that was tough!
