I was on a board meeting conference call the other day with one of the companies I have invested. After the first 5 minutes of the call, there were loud screams at the other end and the CEO abruptly ended the conference call.

Today, I received this email from the CEO:

“Arthur, who has been handling some of the accounting load, had either a major stroke or heart attack in front of our building as we were beginning our meeting yesterday. When I hung up and got outside, he was in full cardiac arrest and was not breathing. I administered CPR until the paramedics arrived. Although he showed some signs of life upon arrival at the hospital, Arthur passed away an hour or so later. Please keep Arthur and his family in your prayers.”

Unbelievable. I did not know Arthur but my prayers are with his family. As I always say, it takes courage as an entrepreneur to wake up in the morning. You never know what will happen that day. It reminds me of the expression, “There go I, but for the grace of G-d”.
