I looked through my son’s homework. He is in second grade at a public school. I was blown away to see that he was learning Powerpoint! Talk about a Microsoft monopoly and indoctrinating kids early! Wow!
When he grows up, will there be no other way to present information except through Powerpoint? I hope not.
Powerpoint in second grade? I hope they learn how to deal with a crashed PC in third! . . . C’mon, Barry, tell that school to get some iMacs with Keynote, and get ’em started off right! : )

I knew school was being dumbed down before, but Powerpoint in second grade?
I am reminded of a couple of articles:
PowerPoint is Evil

Homeschooling is looking more attractive everyday.
I think it’s GREAT! From what I see in business today – to succeed you need to be a good presenter and PowerPoint is one of the critical communication tools of corporate executives today. Maybe if children learned at an early age the importance of communicating and being able to present ideas clearly and efficiently – there would not be so many people complaining about PPT today. It’s not PPT that creates bad meetings, it’s the person’s poor presentation skills and the person that created the poorly designed PPT that created the bad meetings. My daughter just finished 2nd grade and I wished she learned PowerPoint. I’ll have to start teaching her this weekend. You just gave me an idea for a new business. Thanks.
I’ve just bought a Tony Buzan book about self-improvement. Highly recommended.
