I am a gadget hound. Whenever a new electronic device or tech toy comes out yearn to have it. That is, except when it comes to software. In this case, I don’t mind being behind one or two releases of the most current software. Why? It simply scares the heck out of me to monkey with a Windows based computer that is working fine. Over the years I have had so many problems with software conflicting with each other that when it finally all decides to “get along”, I don’t want to “anger the gods”.
For example, until a few weeks ago, I was still running Windows 98 despite all the other computers in my house (3 others) running Windows XP. Until then, it all worked. Then Outlook 2000 kept crashing so I had no choice but to “upgrade”. Now, two weeks later, I have reloaded all the software that had conflicts with the new operating system and things mostly work…for now.
