On this morning’s radio show, I talked with Nadja Pietka of Nadja Foods. Her $20M company sells brownies and angel cake to such food giants as McDonalds. Wegmans and Subway. She eventually sold your muffin recipe to Quaker. She has two best selling books.  I met Nadja in the Green Room of the Donny Deutsch show which she has been on several times.

I talked to her first about the fact that a lot of people think that you need a lot of money to start a business. As an angel investor, I am continually amazed about people that come up to me and say, Barry, if I only had $1M , I could really get this business off the ground.

Nadja started two international businesses as an unemployed single mother and I think with $100. I love her story because I talk a lot about how you have to bounce. She certainly has done that. She was married to a dentist and was very well off . He then left her for another woman. Bill collectors were pounding down her door. She literally was hiding underneath the table with her child.

Her prime motivation to bounce and get off the floor? Simply, humiliation. When she was finally able to get up and tell all the good and bad of her story at an awards conference, it was very freeing for her. Listen to more!

Also, Nadja tells how she got on Oprah twice!
