I spoke at Harris Bank tonight to a wide variety of small business owners. They were involved in Real Estate, Library consultants, Cooking Ingredients Sales, Construction, Golfing Equipment, etc. It always amazes me how people have managed to start their own businesses in so many different areas of interest.
I also was talking to the people at Harris Bank. I never knew the bank was owned by the Bank of Montreal since it has such a local flavor with its famous mascot, Hubert Harris, the Lion. The story goes that at one point the bank thought about retiring Hubert and coming up with a different brand. But they found out in Illinois it was the 5th most recognized brand (behind such big names as McDonalds, Burger King, etc). You don’t mess with success!
