Well, the first stop on any tour needs to be Peoria. I wanted to see if my book would “play Peoria”.

This question originated during Peoria’s vaudeville days. According to the Historic Peoria site, “When a new live act or stage show was produced, it was soon booked into a Peoria theater. It was believed that if a show could achieve the approval of the Peoria audience, it would be successful anywhere in the country….To this day Peoria is still used as a national test market for new products, a source for “national” political views and a measure of various national trends.”

Well, I was the luncheon speaker at the Illinois Small Business Development Center Conference. I don’t think I made anyone sick, so I’ll take my show on the road this week to Baltimore, Washington and Charlottesville.

More from the road this week.
