I traveled 180 miles north of Chicago to a small community, Two Rivers which is right on the beach between Milwaukee and Green Bay, WI. I was asked to discuss the role that angels can play in providing economic development funds to help a town survive and grow. This particular community of 12,600 people is currently under major reconstruction of its Main Street area. (all that is left is a dirt road!)
The business members of the community decided to take matters into their own hands and spur economic activity on Main Street by getting wealthy investors to set up an angel fund. This is the path that many small communities are taking…that is, if we are to improve business here, the entrepreneur needs to do this and we can help.
