Last night in New York, I stayed at a hotel near Time Square called QT. I stay at 100 nights a year and this hotel redefined what a hotel is. The place looks like a 7-11 when you walk in…part of their concept is to stock your own mini bar. As I entered my room it felt like I was entering my cabin on a ship…small, narrow, minimalist, and modern. Bunk beds for 4 people with flat screens and dvd players at each bed. Eqyptian cotton sheets. A shower with no door or curtain. Small windows. A delicious free breakfast. All at $200 a night (cheap for New York).
Did I enjoy my stay? Yes, but it took me opening up and getting used to it since my expectations about what a hotel is was different. I give the creators alot of credit for taking a risk. Its a hard thing to do to change customers expectation.
