I never understood why retailers framed their first dollar until I had a business of my own. Selling your own service or product to a customer is a special feeling. I frequently comment on this while I am out speaking. Recently, while in St. Paul at a marketing conference, one person from the audience told me his story. Bob Jones said that when is father passed away (they had the same name), he was cleaning out his drawer he made a special discovery. It was a check made out to him from his father dated February 1958 for $1.00 for the first paying job he ever did (for his dad). His dad had kept this check in his drawer all these years. Guess it was special to father and son alike.
