For one day, just stop!
There is far too much complaining in the world of small business. There is too much obsessive compulsive behavior toward our work and the constant need to multitask in every last thing that we do. I propose for one day we….
1. Just stop checking email, your voice mail, your Facebook feed and your Twitter updates. Really it can wait. Seriously. I see so many people that are suppose to be doing their job, but are checking emailor texting instead. These include retail clerks, flight attendants, post office workers, taxi drivers, and security guards. Think about how well we would do our jobs if we just focused without this distraction.
2. Just stop complaining about how much work you have to do or your customers. Especially in this post recession economy, to have work that you can do is a privilege. Be glad you have work. Get used to some customers complaining. If they didn’t have problems, they wouldn’t need to pay you to fix them.
3. Just stop complaining how it’s the other person. Alternately, stop saying things would be different “only if”. Accept the result and then take another action to give your self another chance of success.
4. Just stop obsessing about that last client call or email. Deal with it, forget it and move on. Trying to change the resultor wish it away does nothing.
5. Just stop chasing the same prospects who stopped returning your phone calls long ago. Find new ones that have the pain you solve and the money to solve the pain.
Will you join me?
What else should we just stop doing?
I suggest stop solving the same problem again and again. Do it once, correctly, and then monitor so it never comes back. When are you going to publish “For One Day…Just Start!”
