I have never discussed religion in my blog. But last week, I arrive early for a meeting with a client. As I walked into his office, I saw a man with a long black robe and flowing beard meeting with my client in their conference room . They were sitting in front of a religious object and a burning candle. I could not hear what they were saying. When the meeting ended, they came out towards the lobby to greet me. My client introduced me to Father John and said that he was here to bless the business to help it have a good year.

I got to wondering, can prayer help your business? I remember another client of mine consistently told me that when she is faced with difficult times in her business, she asks G-d for guidance and he helps her. Her business has consistently prospered.

Rev. William Thomas Cummings, a Roman Catholic priest that told the American Army soldiers on the eve of the battle that “there are no atheists in foxholes” preceded the Bataan Death March in 1942 shortly after the Japanese invasion of the Philippines- that is, during difficult times, most people will naturally ask a higher power for help.

You may not be one to turn to prayer to help your business during these tough times, but can it really hurt? It is proven that prayer helps people feel better and have a better attitude about themselves. Another famous quote is that “G-d helps those that help themselves“. During turbulent times, we need to do whatever we can to make ourselves have a more positive outlook on our businesses and our lives. This attitude then comes through in dealing with our customers and friends- which only can lead to positive results in the long run.

Have you ever turned to prayer in your business?
