Business is so much fun because I am continually amazed about what people dream up as a business. Enter Victoria Vanstone who contacted me about her company, YourDeathWish.com. Besides loving the name, I was intrigued by the idea. As the site says,

“There is one thing certain in life and that’s death. So why not accept the inevitable and have a little fun? Yourdeathwish.com is an upbeat way to create your perfect funeral, archive your life and be remembered online. Now you can make your preference known to your loved ones …. Choose the music for your funeral, create your own remembrance page, ….” As Victoria tells it on her site, “I wanted the site to be up-beat and fun, but most of all, I wanted members’ profiles to represent them as they would wish to be remembered; not in a morbid way; more as a celebration of their life.”

The question is do I choose how to be remembered or do the people that are left after me choose how I am remembered? I may leave a few books I have written behind but isn’t my legacy what people remember and how I have effected their lives? I want to be remembered for making a difference in a people’s lives for a moment, a day or a year. Obviously with my familyand my sons specifically but in the broader sense, I aim to achieve this through my books and speaking events.

What do you want to be remembered for?
