I had felt like the last guy on earth without a big HDTV screen in their home. Mercifully, that drought ended yesterday. I have bought many TVs over the years. Usually, you go to the store, buy it, bring it home, plug it in and watch it. The world has changed since I last made that type of purchase (7 years ago). It is much more like building a house these days, than buying a new piece of equipment.
The process: You need to get digital cable in your house for the High Definition to work. Then, if you are to hang it on the wall, you need to have an electrician install a new outlet. Then they come and put up a bracket to hold the TV that is so big, I could build my son a fort on on. They then wire up all the other components (CDs, DVD, Radio, XBOX, iPod) to the TV. After 6 hours, they are done!
They handed me the manual and all of the remote controls to figure it all out…I wonder how long that will take, but I can’t wait until Sunday to watch the Chicago Bears in HDTV!
