I am a big fan of two things:
1. Building relationships based on trust
2. Chris Brogan
One of the great business book reads of the summer has just been released by Chris Brogan and Julien Smith called, Trust Agents. I finished reading it in one sitting on two plane rides today.
This is why you need to read this book and buy it for the important business people in your life:
The way we build relationships these days has changed. The world is more transparent and everything is recorded and searchable on the web. To build business, you need to build trust- Trust Agents shows you how.
Chris and Julien take us through 6 steps to learn trust agent moves (as they call it):
1. Make your own game– this is the fun part, don’t be afraid to stand out!
2. One of Us– learn to belong to a community you are passionate about and not be an elitist leader within it.
3. Archimedes Effect– learn that being successful means you need leverage (this is true at everything in business)
4. Agent Zero– find the people at the center of your network that can provide access. Remember the number 150.
5. Human Artist– develop understanding on a personal level. Being human is “the new black” in social media.
6. Build an Army– learning to collaborate- without that, you are lost.
I learned so many things from this book that the whole thing is dog eared and scribbled on already. I will be using alot of what I learned in this book in the Fall like: gatejumping, building a content marketing blog, the trust test, watching for signals of trust, the secret of reliability and Yes and…(you got to read the book for it to make sense)
I especially appreciated the section at the end of the book called Ways People May Trash the Lessons in this book. This took the type of courage, honesty and transparency both Chris and Julien preach.
