I hate being average. I hate people not having a strong opinion about me and what I say. Being average is well…so average. It’s no way to make an impact in this world.
I would much rather total stink at something than be average. I would much rather give up. Wave the white flag and not care at all. Maybe just stink at it for the fun of it. all That takes alot less effort.
If I am going to be committed to do something, I want to do it well. I want to be one of the best. I want people to have a strong feeling about what I say and do. While the Congressman Joe Wilson from South Carolina told Obama last night “you lie”, at least Obama’s speech evoked emotion.
When I speak in front of an audience, I, like everyone else of course, want to hear applause, but I think getting booed would be an acceptable outcome as well. Boo me and I know that at least I made you think. At least I was able to evoke a strong response in you. I accomplished what I set out to do.
Stink or be excellent. Average is so boring.
I agree, our world is full of mediocrity it’s time more people take on this attitude and way of thinking. There is a quote from Winston Churchill that I will never forget. “You have enemies? Good. That means you stood up for something you believe in.” Just because everyone else does it a certain way doesn’t mean it’s right.
